UIW’s 卫生专业学校 Celebrate Spring 2024 Graduates

Nearly 500 students from UIW’s health professions schools (Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions, 菲克药学院, 罗森博格验光学院, 康复科学学院 and 骨科医学院) walked the graduation stage on Saturday, 5月11日在弗里曼体育馆.

Before they were sent off as the next generation of health care professionals, UIW’s health professions schools hosted various events that helped to celebrate and recognize all their hard work, 奉献与成功.

The 罗森博格验光学院 (RSO) hosted a graduation celebration with sponsorship from the Texas Optometric Association in recognition of the 59 students that graduated from the optometry program. 庆典期间, RSO professors and personnel presented scholarships and awards to the graduating Class of 2024 in acknowledgement of their hard work.

The 菲克药学院 (FSOP) joined in the celebration by hosting its annual hooding and pinning ceremony in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room, celebrating its 15th graduating class which was composed of 73 graduates.

在这个仪式上, pharmacy students were presented with their graduation hoods, which they proudly wore the following day at their Commencement ceremony, marking the completion of their doctoral program.

Having completed their fourth and final year of their program, they had the opportunity at last week’s ceremony to give that same pin to someone who was instrumental in supporting them in their pursuit to graduate.

The Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions also hosted a pinning ceremony as well as its Health Professions Graduation Celebration.

Nursing graduates received pins that symbolized their official entry into the nursing profession. Some even had the opportunity to share that they had already secured their first job within their nursing careers.

The 骨科医学院 (SOM) hosted its own annual award ceremony, a tradition that began with the graduation of the school’s first graduating class in 2021. The school recognized the Class of 2024’s collective accomplishments and their individual achievements with 25 special student awards. The ceremony also incorporated the Gold Humanism Honor Society’s (GHHS) first induction and honored the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society, 一个名誉骨科服务兄弟会, 放开手脚.

The Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) recognizes students, residents and faculty who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, 医学领域的导师和领导者. GHHS members are peer nominated and are the ones whom others say they would want to provide health care to their own families. The Society currently has over 45,000 members in training and practice.

最后, the 康复科学学院 (SoRS) celebrated its eight students graduating with their Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree at its annual MSAT Awards Ceremony hosted in the Special Collections Room of the J. E. 和L. E. Mabee图书馆.

This is only the second year SoRS has hosted this event, as the Athletic Training program recently moved to SoRS when it became a master's degree level program.

Student awards presented included the Developing Clinician Award, Academic Achievement Award and the Cardinal Award.
